This project is still ongoing. This block of flats is 7 years old, so it’s relatively new, but had developed problems. After extensive investigations by surveyors instructed by the insurance company, a specification of works was drawn up and Hampstead Builders Ltd won the tender to carry out this work last year. At the time of writing this article we’re just about to start the re-building works, having allowed the roof structure to dry out. The problem was an incorrectly installed vapour barrier, making the internal structure of the roof sweat which caused water to drip through the ceilings of the flats below.
