Hampstead Builders Ltd take videos of construction work we’ve undertaken, new basements, basement re-fits, loft conversions, refurbishments and property renovations. As technology advances rapidly, our most recent videos are the better ones, and we’ll knock old videos off the list as we replace them with new HD videos.
Please bear in mind that each video is composed of footage taken when we make site inspections, so the videos are occasionally a little unsteady as they weren’t taken originally to be used for this purpose.
Thanks
We’re really pleased to be working on this project. We completed the first basement re-fit last year; we adhered to the original contract price and completed on time. This video shows how we had to strip out the internal fabric of the flat, remove all old fixtures and fittings, store whatever was salvageable for re-use, and make the basement ready for the new waterproofing membrane.
In my next video I’ll show you the waterproofing system going in. We’re using a subcontracting company called Trace Basements Systems to do this. They’re one of the top basement waterproofing companies in the UK, offering outstanding insurance-backed guarantees and an excellent service.
This video is the 2nd in my series, showing how the waterproofing membrane is laid in a basement. Insulation is laid over a concrete base and a channel is formed to run around the outside of the floor. The drainage channel can lead to a sump pump or to a standard drain, depending on the circumstances. Plastic waterproofing membranes are fixed to the walls and laid over the insulation, forming a sealed internal space, any water that penetrated the concrete to the floor or the brick and block walls, will fall to the gully and drain away.
At Hampstead Builders Ltd we carry out large and small building contracts. This particular contract is quite interesting as the building we’re working on is only 6 years old and is suffering from internal sweating. The diagnosis is that there’s a problem with the vapour barrier. With all the new building products on the market, problems like this are becoming more and more common. Sick Building Syndrome and Building Pathology are keywords that are becoming increasingly relevant in the kind of work we deal with today. Unfortunately there are a lot of builders out there who don’t understand the consequences of adding membranes without using the correct specifications.
This is a basement in Hampstead we completed last year. Just look how light the basement is; two big light wells, one to the front and one to the back keep the light pouring into this basement.
Hampstead Builders Ltd develop basements all over Hampstead. At the moment we have an ongoing project in Kensington, where the basement is going down two storeys, so that a swimming pool and a gym can be installed. With today’s technology, waterproofing of basements isn&rsquot; as hazardous as in previous years. By using specialist waterproofing companies, we can offer guarantees on the waterproofing system in most basements.
This is a basement under a three bedroom house in Hampstead. The estimated completion time from start to finish is 4 months. The customer will end up with a bathroom and a living room. At the moment we’re underpinning the property, and we’ll soon move on to the waterproofing membrane. Keep an eye open for more updates.
This is the 1st of 6 videos detailing the complete modernisation of a property in Highgate. We carried out a loft conversion, constructed a retrofit basement, and completely refurbished the building. I put this video together to show you just what can be done with this type of property.
Property renovation in Highgate, including a basement, rear extension and a loft conversion. The extensive internal renovation included three wet rooms, one shower, one bathroom and a new kitchen. The contract took 8 months to complete and came in on budget. Most of the works we carried out using our own men, and we contracted out specialist trades like the waterproofing and electrical works.
In this video I show you how an old dilapidated house can be renovated back into pristine condition. The sanding of the floors and replacement of floorboards using salvaged boards, has kept the character of the property. The loft conversion with its new dressing room, bathroom with a shower and double bedroom is lovely, bright and roomy. Note the sliding box, sash windows; they’ve all been renovated and double-glazed.
